A new book by Clinical Associate Professor Randall Deutsch has just been published titled, "Convergence: The Redesign of Design (AD 2017)".
Lecturer David Emmons recently collaborated with former ISoA exchange student Claire Gaspin on a competition entry entitled "The Summit" which was awarded a “Finalist Mention” in the Castle Resort Competition, sponsored by Y.A.C. (Young Architects Competitions). The international competition asked designers to envision a visitor's resort among the ruins of a 12th century castle in Roccamandolfi, Italy.
Professor Emeritus James Warfield delivered the inaugural speech and joined eminent Chinese preservationist Ruan Yisan in cutting the ribbon to officially launch the first issue of China's new and first English-language architecture journal Built Heritage. Leaders in the field of architectural conservation from 16 nations participated in the Shanghai ceremony.
School of Architecture faculty members Scott Murray and Marci Uihlein have each been selected to present their research at the upcoming Conference of the Building Technology Educators’ Society (BTES) in Des Moines, Iowa, in June.
Additionally, Marci Uihlein will be chairing the MATERIALS session at the conference, while Scott Murray will chair the BUILDING SKINS session.
The School of Architecture is pleased to announce that Lowell Miller has been appointed as its Fabrication Coordinator. In this role, Mr. Miller manages the school’s extensive woodshop and fabrication operations located in the Architecture Annex. He also works closely with faculty members who are offering design studios and seminars that involve use of woodshop and fabrication equipment.
Professor Jeffery S. Poss, FAIA was part of a team that received a Heritage Award from the Preservation and Conservation Association (PACA) of Champaign County, for the restoration and improvement of the residence at 609 West Delaware, Urbana.
Poss was the Architectural Consultant for the transformation of the 1979 modernist structure designed by Professor Jack Sherman Baker, FAIA for his client Gertrude Robinson.

Jesse Han was awarded Honorable Mention in the Image of Research – Undergraduate Edition Competition for the research project titled “Analyzing Resources in Support of Public Interest Design” that she has been working on with Associate Professor Lynne Dearborn this semester.
